Oh my god, its so good. When I went in, I was on different plane of existence and the staff was helpful. I was soooo big and greedy and got like 5 things and they were all delicious I was licking the wrappers.

This evening, I specifically ordered a red bean and taro cake to celebrate my mother’s birthday. After dinner, we immediately took out the cake and cut it. However, the very first bite tasted sour. When we smelled it more closely, there was a strong spoiled, sour odor. It completely ruined the mood of the celebration, so I decided to leave this review to make the owner aware of the issue. Was there a problem with the refrigerator temperature? Did the taro filling spoil because of the hot weather? Or had the white cream gone bad? This was extremely disappointing. I sincerely hope the management takes this matter seriously and thoroughly checks the storage conditions, ingredients, and freshness of the cakes.

I come to visit family from out-of-town and this is my dad's go-to for bakery treats. I've tried a lot of random offerings from the store and they've all been good. I'm ethnically Chinese and I grew up eating a lot of pastries from both Boston and NYC Chinatowns and I think they do a good interpretation of a bbq pork bao. Most of their offerings have a more contemporary/chic feel to them, as opposed to the traditional bao and pastries you'd find in a Chinatown. My dad's favorite is the curry beef pie, my mom likes the matcha almond croissant, and we all like the egg tarts. I enjoy their menu items with pork sung. The store layout is pretty simple and designed to get you in and out. There is no seating. DISABILITY ACCESS: Lastly, if you or someone in your party is wheelchair bound, the only ramp for the sidewalk is in the CORNER of the strip mall. You may be able to hop the curb if you have an able bodied adult to with you, but you may want to park a little farther away, closer to the ramp, if you don't.

JJ Bakery used to be one of my favorites in Torrance. I bought their soft red bean bread, but when I cut it in half and took a bite, I felt like something was missing. I looked inside and was honestly shocked—it was practically empty. I checked the other half just in case, and it was the same story. I don’t think I’ll be going back for a while.
